Most
Nominated Movies
Over the years the Oscars has thrown
up some weird and wonderful results with some of the
most influence film makers of a generation being widely
ignored.
Director Alfred Hitchcock, while being a huge influence
over the movie industry and being nominated 5 times for
awards, never won an Oscar for his films. He was later
awarded an Acheivement style Oscar, but that's it!
But one of the best parts of the Oscars is hearing the
Actors acceptance speeches which go from the ultra cool,
briefness of Clark Gable whose entire speech consisted
of "Thank You", to the implausible Greer Garson who rattled
on for so long that she was constantly ribbed about it
at dinner parties in Hollywood for years to come.
Another thing with the Oscars if you're an actor is that
you have to learn to be patient.
John Wayne appeared in 138 films before receiving an Oscar for True Grit (1969).
Henry Fonda waited 41 years between his first nomination and his win for On
Golden Pond (1981). So, if you're a young actor, don't get too downhearted if
you don't win one right away!
